Test - Area and perimeter (circle, rectangle, square, pentagon and triangle)

Area and perimeter - Test 1

What topics are covered in this test?

  • The perimeter of a pentagon.
  • Area of a triangle.
  • Area of the rectangle.
  • Finding sides with area and perimeter.
  • Problems based on fencing rectangular or square fields.
  • Area and the circumference of a circle.
  • Distance covered by the wheel in a certain number of revolutions.

Questions:

Q1 Find the perimeter of the regular pentagon which is 4.5 cm long.

Q2 Find the area of the triangle which is given below:

Figure - I

Q3 Mr. Salman has a rectangular field that is 12m wide and length is double of its breadth.

Find the length of wire to fence his field 5 times.

Q4 The area of a rectangle is 540cm² and its length is 36 cm. Find its perimeter.

Q5 The diameter of the wheel of a car is 70 cm. Find the distance covered by the wheel in 100

       revolutions.

 Tricks

Here are some tricks which can be used to solve those questions more easily.

Please Note:

The perimeter of regular pentagon = 5L or 5a

Area of circle = `\pi r^{2}`  `\color{red} {\pi = 3.14 or \frac{22}{7}}`

Perimeter of circle = 2`\pi`r

If the area is known, we can find length or breadth using this direct method.

Area (A) of rectangle = L x B      a) Length of rectangle = `\frac{A}{B}`

                                                      b) Breadth of rectangle = `\frac{A}{L}`

If the perimeter is known, we can find length or breadth using this direct method.

Perimeter (P) of rectangle = 2(L + B)

                                                a) Length of rectangle = `\frac{P}{2}` - B

                                                b) Breadth of rectangle = `\frac{P}{2}` - L
